CEF launches new Carnegie-Morgan Scholarship in partnership with Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh

We are delighted to announce a new funding initiative developed in partnership with the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE), the Carnegie-Morgan Scholarship.

Open to those looking to undertake the MSc in Biodiversity and Taxonomy of Plants with RBGE, it covers tuition fees and limited living costs support.

As with many STEM subjects, postgraduate study in plant science often comes with a relatively high price tag due to necessities such as specialist facilities, teaching and equipment.

Our scholarship helps to address this by removing the financial hurdle that would otherwise act as a barrier for Scottish graduates looking to advance their studies in this area.

According to NatureScot, nature-based roles grew at more than five times the rate of all jobs in Scotland in the period 2015-19, accounting for one third of all job growth in Scotland in this period, with further expansion predicted until at least 2030.

The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh provides undergraduate horticulture degree programmes in collaboration with Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC). The MSc in Biodiversity and Taxonomy of Plants is offered in partnership with the University of Edinburgh.

The programme is delivered at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. Students benefit from access to the National Botanical Collection, including the living collections, herbarium, library and archives.

This Bursary was made possible thanks to a generous legacy from Dr Keith Morgan, given in 2017 and contributes towards our new strategic plan, which aims to open doors and widen opportunity – Access our strategic plan here.
