Following their recruitment in October 2025, the Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland (CTUS) is delighted to welcome four new trustees to our Board. Each brings a wealth of knowledge and experience which will bolster CTUS’s skillset as we set out to deliver a new strategy in 2026.
Our new members include Graeme McEwan, Director of the Vardy Foundation, Fran McIntyre, Managing Director at Innovate UK Business Connect and Dr Thelma Okey-Adibe, Lecturer at Glasgow Caledonian University and founder of Jezreel Consultancy.
As Professor George Boyne, Principal of the University of Aberdeen, retired in October 2025, the Trust also welcomes Vicki Nairn, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Highlands and Islands as one of our five ex-officio Trustees.
Ronnie Bowie, Chair of the Board said:
“This is an important year for CTUS, as we launch a new Strategic Plan and celebrate our 125th anniversary. We are thrilled to have Graeme, Fran, Thelma and Vicki join us. Their considerable expertise in their respective fields will be a valuable asset as we seek to grow our relevance, impact and reach.
“Our vision is to contribute to the development of a more equitable and successful higher education system in Scotland, and their input will be vital to making that a reality.”
All four Trustees will assume their posts in May 2026 following the CTUS AGM and will serve in an interim capacity in the intervening period.
