Outcome of the Research Incentive Grants round 2022

We are delighted to announce the names and project titles of the 40 Early Career Academics awarded funding in our latest round of Research Incentive Grants. A total of £485,055 will support research across all academic disciplines at 11 Scottish HEIs.

Projects cover a diverse range of topics from Gender and Politics in Arab Film and Media, the development of a toolkit to investigate innate immune memory following lung infection, Africa’s Post-Oil Future, the Dynamic CO2 storage in carbonate rock to Genders Before the Invention of Sexual Orientations, Transgender Identity and Gay Culture; Brain Pathways Underlying Generalized Seizures in Temporal Lobe Epilepsy or the Concept of wilderness in Scottish landscapes through historic and contemporary texts.

In this round, 200 applications were submitted with 40 ECRs receiving funding of up to £15,000 each for their project. Over 500 peer reviewers contributed to the selection process in this very competitive round. The Trust warmly congratulates the award recipients and wishes them all the best in conducting their research.

About the RIG scheme

The Research Incentive Grants allow an Early Career Researcher to undertake, as the Principal Investigator, a short research project, either of a stand-alone nature or in the form of an initial study leading to a more extensive project. Grants of up to £15,000 enable the principal investigator to develop a new project or line of research over a period of up to 12 months.
